Indiana Military & Veteran Legislative Day

Veterans across Indiana are invited to the Indiana State Capitol on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, for the 9th Annual Military and Veterans Legislative Day.

The day provides an opportunity for our veterans to speak with lawmakers about issues that are important to them. The day also provides opportunities to find out what legislation is being authored by members of the General Assembly and how Indiana Legion is lobbying to benefit you. You are also encouraged to schedule a meeting with your State Senator and/or Representative to let them know where you stand on proposed legislation.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a complimentary continental breakfast and the opportunity to visit with Veteran Service Providers that offer services, programs and benefits to our Military and Veterans.

At 10:30 a.m., the day's program will start in the South Atrium on the 2nd floor. After a welcome from the Legislative Supporters, State Senator Michael Crider and State Representative John L. Bartlett, we will be honored to hear from the special guest speaker this year, Medal of Honor Recipient SFC Sammy L. Davis.

Free lunch will be provided after the program. You are encouraged to ask your General Assembly Members to join you for lunch while you visit them on the 3rd floor for some privacy. While you are there, please make it a point to visit one of the 50 Veterans Organizations information tables made available to you.

Parking is free at the Indianapolis Zoo, and there will be a shuttle bus service every 15 minutes starting at 8:00 a.m. The last pickup from the Statehouse is at 1:45 p.m.

If you have any questions about this year’s event, please get in touch with Don Hawkins, Planning Committee Chairman, at Hawkins@Veterans.org, 317-632-0500, or Chad Woodburn Co-chairman, at cwoodburn@indianalegion.org.
