Educator of the Year invests award money into her classroom

Lydgia Palmer, a dedicated 4th grade teacher hailing from Fortville Elementary, was the winner of the Department Educator of the Year award in the K-6th Grade category. This accolade not only brought her a well-deserved plaque but also a prize of $500. Demonstrating her commitment to enhancing her students' learning experience, Lydgia chose to make a meaningful investment in her classroom. A portion of her award money was directed towards the purchase of six "student of the week tents." These tents serve as a special treat for good behavior, allowing “star students” the privilege of working within them. With this creative approach, Lydgia Palmer continues to shine as an inspiration for teachers.
