We know there’s a lot of buzz surrounding proposed legislation that would change how charitable gaming is handled in Indiana. While this bill has cleared several hurdles, it has NOT officially passed into law and will not go into effect until later this year.
Despite this, we’ve already heard from several Posts that companies are aggressively pushing contracts and promising big returns. Be extremely cautious.
Many of these companies are trying to lock in agreements before the legal framework is even finalized. If you sign something now, you could be committing your Post to unfavorable terms—or worse, violating existing law.
Here’s what you should do:
✅ Wait until the bill is officially signed into law and you’ve reviewed the final language.
✅ Consult with legal counsel or Department leadership before signing any agreement.
🚫 Don’t let a high-pressure sales pitch force a rushed decision.
🚫 Avoid verbal agreements or commitments with companies until the law is in place.
We’re all excited about the potential for expanded charitable gaming, but don’t let that excitement lead to costly mistakes. Stay informed, stay cautious, and protect your Post’s interests.
